STED Maple Toffee with Cocoa Nibs handcrafted chocolate bar

A Maple-Soaked Story 🍁

How a Family Tradition Became One of Our Sweetest Creations

Some stories just stick with you, maybe because they taste like home

Before Sted was ever   a company, Kristin’s family had a springtime ritual that

marked the end of winter in Minnesota. Every year, they’d head into the woods, drill tiny holes into maple trees, and hang shiny metal buckets to catch the slow, steady
drip of sap.

It wasn’t about business. It was about patience, family, and the joy of taking something from the land and turning
it into something beautiful together.

Back in that same kitchen, Kristin’s mom made a toffee that quickly became a family favorite… buttery, crisp, and sweetened with their own maple syrup. The kind of treat that made the whole house smell like home.

When Josh and Kristin started Sted Chocolate years later, they knew that tradition had to live on in their work. They wanted to craft something that tasted like Minnesota, something that carried the heart of those early family rituals into every bite.

So they did what they do best: they started melting, mixing, and dreaming.

The result was Maple Toffee with Cocoa Nibs, a bar that folds roasted cocoa nibs into smooth, handcrafted single-origin chocolate, sweetened with local Minnesota maple syrup. Every batch is a nod to family, to place, and to the art of taking something simple and making it extraordinary.

Maple Toffee with Cocoa Nibs isn’t just a chocolate bar, it’s a love letter to the people and places that made Sted what it is today. It’s the taste of home, wrapped in a bar.

Whether you’re treating yourself or gifting someone you love, we hope each bite reminds you that the simplest traditions are often the sweetest ones to share.
