The Story of Sted
At Sted, we believe chocolate is shaped by place.
From the land where cacao is grown to the hands that craft each bar, every step leaves its mark. Chocolate carries the character of its origins—and when made with care, it has a way of bringing people closer to the places and stories behind it.
Our bars are thoughtfully made from simple, real ingredients chosen to honor where they come from. We believe good chocolate doesn’t need to shout. It invites you to slow down, pay attention, and savor. Like good food shared around a table, it’s meant to be enjoyed, remembered, and passed along.
While our ingredients come from around the world, our chocolate is made in small batches in Fergus Falls, Minnesota—among lakes, long winters, and a strong sense of home. This place shapes how we work: patiently, intentionally, and with respect for the process.
The Founders
We are parents.
We are makers.
We are chocolate eaters.
Sted began as a shared curiosity and a desire to make something meaningful by hand. Kristin’s background in pastry led her to chocolate as a lifelong craft—one that rewards patience, care, and attention to detail. Josh’s appreciation for food and place was shaped early on, from communal cooking in Cameroon to time spent in the French Alps.
Today, those experiences come together in our chocolate. From cacao grown far away to maple syrup tapped close to home, every bar reflects the many hands involved along the way—and the belief that discovery can feel both new and familiar at the same time.
Together, we make chocolate that’s more than a treat.
It’s an experience of place.
Each bar has a story.
This one is ours.
